MockingJay Summary

I am officially done with the book MockingJay. I thought it was not as good as the other books but it was still a great book and is one of my favorites. It did not have as much action as I hoped but it was still a good book. I thought it was a much needed book in the series and it would of felt like there would have been a hole in the story without this book. My favorite part in this book is when Gale became more of a leader. The most suspenseful moment in this book is the beginning where they revealed a huge plot twist. There is a lot of chaos in the beginning when nowhere really knows where anyone is. Overall I found this to be a great book but im happy to be done with it and I hope you can read it too.

MockingJay Reasons

Now that I am almost done with the book I want to go back and tell you why I chose the book in the first place. I chose this book because I liked the first to so much. Also I like the author Suzanne Collins because she writes such good books. My favorite thing about Collins is that she incorporates a lot of action. Another reason I chose this book is because I heard it was good from some of my friends. Also my sister read the book and said it was one of her favorites. I read this book because of all the great action and all the good reviews it got from people I know.

Character Analysis (Pt. 3)

Prim-Not a main character in the book and was picked to be in The Hunger Games but Katniss volunteered as tribute. Prim is the sister of  Katniss and does not play a major role in the novel.

Cinna-Not a main character but still plays a role in Katnisses life. He is the stylist for Katniss when she is entered in The Hunger Games. He also is the man who made the dress on fire and that is Katnisses trademark kind of or symbol.

Effie Trinket-She is not a main character but plays an important role in katnisses life. She is kind of a mentor for Katniss and Peeta and also kind of plans things out for The Hunger Games. She also does not like Haymitch because of his drinking and favors Katniss over Peeta.

Character Analysis (Pt. 2)

Gale-My favorite character in the book and is kind-of a main character but not really. He is really good friends with Katniss and has never participated in The Hunger Games. He also has started to become more of a leader and is leading the group more.

President Snow-He is not a main character and is the President or leader of all twelve districts. He also plays a very small role and doesn't show up to much but he is still a very important part of the book. President Snow is extremely rich and is the maker of The Hunger Games.

Rue-She died in the first book and was a part of District 11. She helped the third book by being a huge motivator for Katniss. Rue was one of Katnisses friends and alliances in the first book.

Text-to-Text Connection

My book MockingJay by Suzanne Collins is about a futuristic dystopian society. The book that i thing its related to is The Giver by Lois Lowry which is also a futuristic dystopian society. I think both of these books are dystopian societies because they both have technology we dont have today. Like in the Giver they have a brain washing machine so they can make everyone act and think the same. Also in MockingJay they have The Hunger Games which is a dome surrounded by a force field.

Another thing that makes them alike is that they both have kind of a mentor in each book. Like in MockingJay the mentor was Haymitch and he mentored Katniss and Peeta. In the giver the mentor is The Giver and he mentored Jonas. I think both of these books were great books and I think this because there both closely related.

Final Blogging Assessment in English 1B

The book I am reading is, Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins the third book in the epic series The Hunger Games. The best line in Chapter 15 of Mockingjay is when Katniss says, "But then...I'm also a girl from District 12. Not President Snow"(Collins 262).
I think this is the best line because the whole book is about how she is rebelling and cant be stopped and then the author puts this line in the book about the complete opposite thing. This line helps develop the plot by kind of changing Katnisses mood from being invincible to being just a poor girl from District 12 that cant do anything. Also this develops the plot by another character stepping up to be more of a leader and that is Gale. Gale is probably one of my favorite characters in the series so this move by him to be more of a leader I think will make me be more interested in the book. This line also shows how much power that President Snow has and how much control he has over the Districts. I dont really like President Snow because he has the most power and I usually dont like characters like that. To wrap this blog post up I would like to just summarize what this line meant for the book, it shows a shift in power from Katniss to Gale. Also this sentence shows how Katniss is getting weaker and President Snow is getting stronger.
